Province I Calls New Coordinator

After a months-long search process, the Executive Committee of Province I is delighted to announce the call of Emily Keniston to be the Coordinator of Province I. Emily has now begun her ministry and is eagerly digging into the work of getting to know both the members and ongoing ministries of Province I.

Emily is a member of St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Windham, Maine. Raised in the Episcopal tradition, she has strong roots to The Episcopal Church in New England but has also participated in ministry within the Anglican Communion on four continents. She has been actively involved in faith formation in Province I for more than a decade, and most recently served in mission with her family in Tunisia, North Africa.

Emily founded Faith Formation Connect, an online formation coaching program for Province I and served as chairperson of the Maine Christian Education Collaboration. She holds a certificate in Lifelong Christian Formation (jointly awarded by Forma and Virginia Theological Seminary), and degrees in Communication, International Studies, and Education from the University of Southern Maine. She and her husband, four children and two Tunisian cats live in Portland, Maine.

Emily specializes in innovative approaches to building community, catalyzing action and addressing emerging issues. “I look forward to celebrating lifelong learning, sharing resources and most especially God’s love with all people,” she said. "In the early days of this work I have been deeply moved by the depth and breadth of ministry shared among people in this province. It is my sincere

prayer that I can support and foster this good work by communicating and amplifying the stories and voices among us, and to catalyze new ways of thinking and being together."

As the Province I Coordinator, Emily looks forward to connecting people who are doing similar work within the Province and across the church, and to inspiring collaboration and creativity in the stewardship of resources. She urges people feeling called to engage in ministry at the Province level, or who have questions about who else might be doing similar work, to reach out via email at coordinator@province1.org or to call her at (207) 210-7500.
