STEWARDSHIP OF CREATION

The care of creation is entrusted to us. Look here to learn about the ways we are doing this in Province 1 and the Episcopal Church.

OUR STORY

One of the biggest stories coming out of the 2015 General Convention was the creation of a Task Force on Climate Change which calls for the church to create Regional Consultative Groups. These regional groups would develop parish and diocesan resources to support ecologically responsible stewardship of church-related properties and buildings. With funding of $700,000, $600,000 of which was to be direct grants to congregations and dioceses for measurable pilot projects in ecological sustainability, the Episcopal Church demonstrated its commitment to heal, defend, and work toward justice for all God's creation and to respect the kinship and connection of all that God created through education, advocacy, and action. The Rev. Stephanie Johnson (CT), former Energy Stewardship Minister for Province I, and Bishop Marc Andrus were named Co-Chairs of the Task Force.
