Province 1 Grants

In 2012, the Executive Committee decided to shift from funding named networks to offering Sowing Seeds of Mission grants to Province I members for mission-oriented projects or programs. In addition to supporting established groups at the level they truly needed, the hope was to help launch initiative by emerging communities of practice with members in two or more dioceses. In 2021, In-Person Meeting Grants were announced as part of the Province's response to the new realities of gathering amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic, and in 2023 additional one-year grants were established. Over fifty grants ranging from $500 to $2,500 have been awarded since the grant program was established.  Four current grants are available.

2023 Province 1 Grants

Sowing Seeds
of Mission

Grants of $500 - $2,500 will be awarded to Episcopal leaders within Province I who are directing collaborative efforts that involve participants in two or more of the New England Episcopal dioceses.

In-Person
Meeting Support

Grants of up to $2,000 are available to Province 1 Ministry Networks or to 2023 Sowing Seeds of Mission Grant recipients to ease the costs of gathering in person in 2023.

Inter-Diocesan
Collaboration

New in 2023. Grants of up to $10,000 are available for two or more Episcopal dioceses in Province 1 engaged in collaborative work, as a one-time partnership investment in a new inter-diocesan ministry effort.

This grant must be endorsed by all bishops of the dioceses requesting the grant, and must be requested by at least one diocesan staff member from each diocese involved in the grant.

Coming Together in Hope and Healing

New in 2023. Grants of $500 - $2,500 are available for Episcopal leaders within Province I for projects or ministries speak to our
2022 Winter Conference theme of
Coming Together in Hope and Healing.

Preference will be given to projects
that span multiple dioceses, although this is not a requirement for this grant.

This grant cannot be paired with a Sowing Seeds of Ministry Grant.

Grant Process and Application

Proposals are accepted throughout the year until funds are exhausted and are reviewed during the monthly Executive Committee Meeting, usually the third Thursday of the month.

We anticipate that most projects/programs will occur within the fiscal year.  Applications are reviewed for clarity of mission, comprehensiveness of plan, stewardship of resources, development of sustainable networks for future collaboration, and likelihood of success. To apply, download the application in Word (.docx). Then, email your completed file to the Province 1 Coordinator at coordinator@province1.org.
